Poor Man's Justice
By David Mitchell
Poor Man's Justice, for all it reveals, is not about guilt or innocence. It questions the lack of intergrity in a plea process that led to the dehumanization of a father, during and after his incarceration. This true life drama exposes the purposeful infusion of degradation as it exists in our justice system today. When punishing issues of law-and-order gain prominece over society's ability to speak out about institutional abuses, we all face the danger of losing our freedom as we know it.
Justice, in defining terms, is an expression of fairness and equality in a decision sought without prejudice.
Poor Man’s Justice open’s the door to a revealing question: “Should confrontational and dehumanizing portrayals of an accused citizen be used to obtain a desired sentence?”
